When I visited Purmamarca few years ago, the colorful adobe village struck me as a time capsule – the neighborhood stores all had vending machines from the 70s (think Coca Cola in classic glass bottles). It was common to see quaint llama farms, which meant many clothing merchandise made of llama hair, and local restaurants serving up llama meat. Set against the backdrop of the Cerro de Siete Colores (“Hill of Seven Colors”), it is a place comfortably grounded in its tradition.

Playing with oil pastel
It has been a long time since I last posted because I got caught up on my data science blog and starting a new job. A few weeks ago, I finished an oil pastel drawing of a sunflower field (this would be a Mother’s day gift), and it was quite a different experience from oil painting.

This landscape painting is based on a photo I took while on vacation in Portugal (the land of fine espresso and creamy pastéis de nata!). We visited a cozy beachfront town called Cascais (pronounced cash-caish), and there I decided I want to capture the charm of this Mediterranean suburb on canvas.
